Pearl Jam Announces Backspacer Pre-Order
Track List Information Available Now
Backspacer, Pearl Jam’s first release of new material since 2006, will be available in stores on Sept. 20. The album will be sold online, through various indie retail stores, and at Target. It is available now, however, via advance order through the Pearl Jam website for fans who want to claim copies early.
Backspacer CD
The Backspacer CD is available on the Pearl Jam website for $13.99. According to the website, the CD includes a “Ten Club/Indie Package [and] hard-bound book style jacket ala the Avocado package [sic].” The site offers free shipping for orders placed before Sept. 1, and promises to try to deliver the album by the Sept. 20 retail release date.
Backspacer Vinyl LP
Backspacer is also available on vinyl for fans who prefer records instead of CDs. The album is being pressed on 180-gram vinyl, and includes a twenty-four page, full-size booklet. It is being sold for $19.98. The booklet is in color and contains original artwork by cartoonist Tom Tomorrow.
According to his July 13, 2009, blog post titled "The Slow Reveal," Tomorrow states: “I didn’t spend close to six months working on this one image [referring to an image from the booklet] … It’s a very cool package, the product of a long, intensive collaboration, and I’m really quite proud of it. This image alone is just a hint.”
Backspacer Single “The Fixer”
Pearl Jam will also allow pre-orders of the first single, “The Fixer,” for $5.99. “The Fixer” is available on a seven-inch white vinyl 45-rpm record format. The single will be available beginning Aug. 24.

In addition to the album pre-sale information, the Backspacer track list has been released. The album includes the following songs:

Backspacer Tour
As previously reported, Pearl Jam will embark on the North American leg of the Backspacer tour on Sept. 21 with a home-town show at Seattle’s Key Arena. The short tour wraps Oct. 30 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
There is much speculation, however, that more dates will be added. The band’s website implies that the tour will transition to Australia and New Zealand following the conclusion of the North American dates, stating, “keep your eyes on the horizon … Australia and New Zealand are next. Details to come soon [sic].” Fans can purchase tickets through Ticketmaster.
