The Script and "The Man Who Can't Be Moved"Dublin band's debut album features hits "Breakeven," "We Cry"
Dublin hitmakers The Script have broken out with their debut album. With hits "The Man Who Can't Be Moved" and "Walk You Down" they have wowed U2 and Paul McCartney.
The Script are an up-and-coming rock trio from Dublin, Ireland that have wowed the rock mainstream, rock veterans and rock writers alike. With their self-titled debut album they have introduced a line of hits including “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved,” “Breakeven,” “Talk You Down,” “We Cry” and “The Worst.” The 2008 album has sold well, reviewed well and earned the band a spot supporting fellow Dubliners U2 in concert, and opening for rock legend Paul McCartney. “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved”Though the album was released in August 2008, The Script’s second single “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved” propelled the band into the rock mainstream. The song failed to reach number one on the charts only because of the massive success of Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl.” Because of the success of their second single, the album went on to sell over 50,000 copies in its first week released, and since has sold over 500,000 copies around the world. “Breakeven”Singed to RCA’s Phonogenic label, The Script is made of singer Danny O’Donoghue, and bandmates Mark Sheehan and Glen Power. The group, including third single “Breakever,” was influenced by acts as diverse as Van Morrison, Timbaland, the Neptunes and new friends U2. Perhaps most notably, the band owes much of their sound to fellow Irishmen The Police. At times echoing the haunting vocals of Sting almost exactly, O’Donoghue has attracted many to the band with his voice. “We Cry”“We Cry” was the first single from The Script. It features the urban side of the band, showing off the syncopated, rapping style of the band. The trait is also featured on “Before the Worst.” “Talk You Down,” the group’s fourth single, was released in March 2009, and culminated with the band grabbing a number of award nominations. The Script also earned the honor of headlining Europe’s Trinity Ball in May 2009. The Script tracklist
The Script have already announced that they are working on their second album, which is expected to be released sometime in 2010. To be an album with a harder rock 'n' roll sound, the trio notes that it will still be the same band, and the sound and quality of music will remain the same.
